
Kateryna Mychka
Kateryna Mychka is a doctoral student in an international double-degree program in Germanic and Slavic Studies at Charles University in Prague and Sapienza University in Rome. In her PhD dissertation, she focuses on Serhij Žadan’s Work in the Context of the Transformative Dynamics of Independent Ukraine. Born in Ukraine, she has lived and studied in Italy since 2012. Since moving to Italy, she had opportunities to study in several European universities: the University of Milan, Vienna, Tartu, Konstanz, Hamburg and Sorbonne University in Paris.
She is particularly interested in translation from Ukrainian to Italian and vice versa. She has translated two books from Italian to Ukrainian, “Чарівники й чаклунки: посібник із магії для початківців” (Knyholav, 2023) and “Коли щось пішло не так” (Knyholav, 2024).
She participated in the collaborative translation of a book from Ukrainian to Italian, “Gli occhi di Mariupol”. She has contributed translations to Rivista di Studi Ucraini Nipro, E-Samizdat, and translated several articles from Italian to Ukrainian for the Italian Ukrainian-language online journal Slava Evropi. She is also an editor and translator of the Italian version of UkraineWorld, a multilingual media outlet about Ukraine.
In recent years, she has contributed articles related to Ukraine to the Italian Ukrainian-language online journal Slava Evropi, Linkiesta, and Poli-Logo.
She is a member of the Italian Association of Ukrainian Studies. In January 2025 she joined Erasmus+ KA220 project “EUkraine Forum – Planning the Future of Ukrainian Studies in Europe” (INALCO, Charles University, University of Warsaw and Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv).
For the upcoming academic year 2025-2026, the Italian government awarded her the MAECI Grant for foreign citizens for the second time.
