
Yaryna Grusha
Iaryna Anatoliivna Grusha (also known as Yaryna Grusha) is a publicist, translator, and cultural manager. Since 2018, she has been teaching Ukrainian Language and Literature at the University of Milan. During the 2022–2023 academic year, she also held a workshop in Ukrainian Language and Literature at the University of Turin. Between 2022 and 2025, she led the Seminar in Ukrainian Language and Culture at the University of Bologna.
Raised in a family of schoolteachers in Ukraine, she grew up embracing the values of education and academic research. In recent years, she has supervised numerous bachelor’s and master’s theses in Ukrainian literature at the University of Milan.
Since 2014, Grusha has been an active contributor to various media outlets in Italy and Ukraine, reporting on cultural and social issues for La Repubblica, Il Foglio, Linkiesta, European Pravda, LitAccent, and Radio Radicale.
Together with her colleague Alessandro Achilli, she edited and translated Poeti d’Ucraina (Poets of Ukraine), the first anthology of Ukrainian poetry published in Italy, released by Mondadori in 2022. She also edited Dimensione Kyiv, an anthology of literary texts about Kyiv, published by BUR-Rizzoli in February 2023. In 2024, her translation of Lesja Ukrajinka’s Il canto della foresta (The Song of the Forest) was published by Mondadori. In 2025, she edited the Italian translation of Victoria Amelina’s unfinished manuscript Guardando le donne guardare la guerra (Watching Women Watch the War) for Guanda.
